Who is going to the Hangout Music Fest on May 20 & 21?

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Hangout Music Festival is the first and only festival of its kind.  Located in beautiful Gulf Shores, Alabama, Hangout features an eclectic musical lineup with stages located directly on white sandy beaches with ocean views.  Hangout features today’s top rock ‘n roll and contemporary artists in a sun soaked setting. No other location allows music fans the opportunity to hear three consecutive days of their favorite bands while experiencing mind, body and spirit rejuvenation on the beach.

Shed the mud-boots and sleeping bags and wake up each morning from a fully equipped condo, many with ocean views. Lodging options are available for every budget and many condos and hotels are accessible to the festival grounds by walking or biking. Thats part of what makes the Hangout experience so unique.

Festival attendees can sip bushwackers ocean side, and soak up the sun on a beach blanket while cool tunes float by. With never before seen beach and festival amenities, lodging comforts close by, pristine beaches, and world-class musicians, Hangout features the ultimate music experience for sophisticated festival fans.

Gulf Shores has quickly become THE destination location to see blockbuster concert events. The 2010 inaugural Hangout Music Festival paved the way for the Concerts for the Coast music series that filled the summer of 2010 with performances from Jimmy Buffett & Friends, Bon Jovi, Brad Paisley, Hank Williams Jr., Gretchen Wilson and Alan Jackson.

Concerts for the Coast was created to offer much-needed economic support to the Gulf area drawing visitors from around the country and stimulating the local economy impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Hangout and the Concerts for the Coast music series have brought over 100,000 visitors to the region and continue to greatly support local businesses.

The inaugural Hangout Beach Festival, May 14th-16th, 2010, featured Trey Anastasio, Zac Brown Band, John Legend, The Roots, Ben Harper and Relentless7, The Black Crows, Alison Kraus and Union Station, Gov’t Mule, Ray Lamontagne, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Matisyahu, Girl Talk, and many more.

May 20 & 21, 2011 aims to be bigger and better with another stellar lineup, new activities, posh amenities and a backdrop of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

Fun things to do in Gulf Shores, Alabama

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

With a mild climate year round, Gulf Shores is a wonderful place to visit to enjoy fishing, water activities, historic sites,  golfing and festivals. The area offers a large number of activities. I consider this to be a great beach town.

Kids and adults both will love the Alabama Coastal Zoo which features more then 250 animals, reptiles and birds.  Every year there is a Shrimp festival in October that features entertainment, fine arts, arts & crafts and of course, the main event, shrimp!  For a little bit of history visit the Bellingrath Gardens which consists of gardens and a mansion located on the Fowl River in nearby Theodore, a suburb of Mobile, Alabama.

If you are a war buff & interested in history & the Civil War or the Revolutionary War, you might want to visit Fort Morgan.   This fort is at the mouth of Mobile Bay.  Some regard it as “one of the finest examples of military architecture in the New World”  The fort was named in honor of Revolutionary War hero Daniel Morgan.  The fort is maintained by the Alabama Historical Commission.

Other fun activities include fishing, water sports, hiking, biking and bird watching.  Golf at one of the 9 local golf courses which include a 4 star rated course and a course designed by Arnold Palmer.
